MEET PAULA

Paula Hennessey  BA, BA (Hons), MEd, C.C.C.

Over the last twenty five years, Paula has enjoyed a very rewarding career in the areas of early intervention, early childhood learning and development, and program and policy development within the health, community, social services, and education sectors. Paula worked as an early childhood educator, a child management specialist and behaviour management specialist. She has been involved in leadership roles with provincial autism pilot project/ autism services, KinderStart and other transition to school programming, full-day kindergarten, early literacy programming, and play based learning initiatives. More recently, Paula transitioned to working with clients as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with specialized training in play therapy, grief and loss, trauma and addictions. 

Paula works individually with children (preschool, school-age), youth and adults; with families; and in groups. She uses an individual approach to counselling and draws upon a number of counselling approaches that best fits clients needs including behavioural/applied behaviour analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), client-focused, motivational interviewing, narrative, creative and expressive arts, play therapy, as well as crisis prevention and intervention. Clients who are lgbtq2sia, indigenous peoples and/or newcomers to Canada are welcomed.
